2019 MADISON TOWNSHIP POLICE REPLACEMENT LEVY FACTS

  • This proposed 3.9 mill replacement levy will not add additional millage to your tax bill.  This levy will merely update two old levies from 1982 and 1994 at the current 2019 tax rates.

  • This new proposed replacement levy would replace a 1.9 mill levy first approved by the voters of Madison Township in 1982, and a 2.0 mill levy approved by the voters of Madison Township in 1994. There is no increase in total millage.  The proposed 3.9 mill replacement levy will merely update police department operating revenues to 2019 property values.  The current 1.9 mill and 2.0 mill levies only collect police operating revenues at 1982 and 1994 property values.

  • The Madison Township Police Department has not had any increase in operating revenue for the past seven (7) years (2012).  For seven (7) years the police departments operating revenue has remained stagnant while necessary and required expenses to operate have increased greatly.

  • The last police levy approved by the voters of Madison Township in 2016 was a renewal levy.  That renewal levy did not increase taxes or increase operating revenue for the police department, it merely maintained the status quo.

  • The revenue generated from this proposed 3.9 mill replacement levy will allow the township to maintain the status quo of our police department, and continue providing the same level of law enforcement service to the residents of Madison Township.
