COMMERCIAL PROPERTY REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Business Relocation within Madison Township:

1.      Any business moving into an existing space in Madison Township must contact the Zoning Department at 440-428-1120. The Zoning Department requires the following documentation: Description of business, site plan, address/location and owner information

2.      All new tenants must notify the Lake County Building Department of their arrival by calling 440-428-2636

3.      All new tenants must notify the Madison Fire District of their arrival by calling 440-428-6531

4.      If a sign is to be erected or replaced, a SIGN PERMIT must be applied for and approved by the Madison Township Zoning Department

 

 

Commercial Improvements Procedure:

 

1.      Any business improving an existing space in Madison Township must contact the Zoning Department at 440-428-1120

2.      If interior construction occurs (wiring, plumbing, etc.) the Lake County Building Department must be notified at 440-350-2636 and a BUILDING PERMIT pulled.

3.      If interior construction/alteration/remodeling occurs, please notify the Madison Fire District for a safety inspection by calling 440-428-6531

4.      If a sign is to be erected or replaced, a SIGN PERMIT must be applied for and approved by the Madison Township Zoning Department

 

New Construction (Commercial) Procedure:

 

1.      Any business planning to build in Madison Township must contact the Zoning Department at 440-428-1120 prior to breaking ground

2.      Plans for constructing must meet the requirements set to the Zoning District Map for this location. If not, the Lake County Planning Commission and the Madison Township Zoning Commission may grant a Conditional Use for the proposed area after review. The Lake County Planning Commission meets the fourth Thursday of the month, the Zoning Commission meets the second Wednesday of the month

3.      Site plans must be submitted and approved by the Zoning Commission

4.      Building and Site Plans must be submitted and approved by the Madison Fire District for safety purposes. 440-428-6531

5.      Upon the approval by the Planning Commission and the Madison Fire District, a zoning application must be completed

6.      The Zoning Department will create a Zoning Permit when all appropriate documentation and fees have been filed and paid in full (Permit Fees)

7.      Building Plans must be submitted and approved by the Lake County Building Department before ground breaking begins.
